I just got back into the office from a great weekend of racing and wanted to reflect on how our weekend went. We rolled the rig into Topeka on Wednesday, found a hotel and crashed until the next morning. Thursday morning, we started our wellrehearsed drill of setting the pits up and getting the first tuneup on the car. The weather was damp and muggy so we chose to put in a safe tuneup for the first time trial. First pass she ran a 6.95 – we actually ran the other car down and  passed him! Man that feels good 🙂

We get back to the pits and check the data. All looked perfect so we decided to throw a haymaker tuneup on her and see what the track would hold. At this point we thought we were going to get two more time trial passes and made the decision to be brave and not safety upwith our second pass. Well, that was a good move for the sake of data …The car only ran a 7.10 with the power ramped up, but we found the clutch settings were too soft.We learn a lot every time we go down the track. The 3rd pass, we never got since the NHRA officials decided to go into a rain schedule to try and hurry things along since rain was eminent. Our 6.95 pass had us into the field for a while but basically we just had to sit there and watch as our race day pass faded away. I think what we learned from this is to try & get a 6.70 pass in on the first try.I will see y’all in Tulsa!
