Houston, we have no problems….

Well I just got in from Houston, and I’m going to spend a little time with my awesome wife before hitting the grindstone again. The entire team is worn out from a very long weekend of racing and working on this hot rod … but it’s so worth it. This week we were down in Houston racing in the NHRA Spring Nationals. When it comes to racing, it’s about as big as it gets and we did awesome! I’m so proud of the accomplishments from these guys. This team just keeps getting better and better! All the hard work and late nights are starting to come together. First pass of the day she went 7.11 at 193. The car threw a fit at the 1,000-ft mark, and I had to pedal her a little. But it was still good enough to get us in the big show. The next pass left something to be desired. I rolled into the water box and did my burnout like usual. I rolled back and the NHRA line boss starts looking at the track and wiping up a little oil. He gave me a thumbs up to go ahead and make the run. I backed her up a little more and that’s when he stopped me. We had to abort the pass and get backed out. I was nervous and just a little embarrassed to have something like that happen with the stands packed full of people. We got her back to the pits and started looking for a leak … couldn’t find one, no where no how. The car was perfect. So I went over to the guy that went down the track in front of me and lo-and-behold, he was pulling his transmission. He had leaked it on the track and we got the blame. What a bummer. The next pass was the big show, I got the burnout done and the car felt perfect so we went with it. I got to the 1,000-foot mark again and wham! The car got squirrely again. I pedaled her and still did a 6.86 at 202. I lost the race by 124 thousandths. Oh well 🙁 we will be back bigger better and faster next time.
